The Métis Homeland Online Database seeks to contribute to strengthening Métis Nation knowledge networks by acting as a central repository to past documents, research and analysis that are often disconnected or redundant due to provincial governments boundaries.

The database was created and is maintained by the Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research (RCMR), and is an extension of the Social Sciences and Humanities funded RCMR research report Painting a Picture of the Métis Homeland: Synthesizing Knowledge about Métis education, employment and training.

The central purpose of the RCMR is to serve as an expansive academic research program specifically geared toward Métis issues. The goals and objectives of the research centre include: building provincial and national connections with the Métis community, and building research capacity to advance Métis-specific research.
